When you start a movie in some futuristic dictatorship and then portray a beautiful young adult girl as the heroine, you send a message that it's ok to submit to the pink squad. It's ok. Give up and work 12 hours in a mine every day, but don't use your brain. Just watch "Survivor" on the tube, and be a groupie for the snappy dresser psycho crowd. I paid ten dollars for this?

I'm getting uber tired of Woody in dramatic roles. Woody is a minimum wage bar tender in my mind. And, not very good at it, either. Not appealing in stage presence nor character.

This is the first of the epic trilogy. I watched it for about the third time recently and each time viewed revealed to me more symbolism and allegory. This is a movie that can be enjoyed (or not) on several levels. The musical score is great, the color and detail of the sets are fantastic, the script is thoughtful, funny, hypnotic, inspiring, and the overall experience is... well, epic. The violence is pervasive but not gratuitous. It is best enjoyed with a good surround sound system. The character development is detailed. This is definately not a low-budget film and all 12 hours or so were filmed together so as not to risk one of the main characters not showing up for the sequals and to prevent any actor from aging when not part of the script. The novie won Oscars and deserved them all. As frosting on the cake, the Elf Queen is one hot chick!
